- Description
- A JAS certified organic, single-cultivar Saemidori matcha from Wazuka, Kyoto — a historic tea-growing village within Japan's celebrated Uji matcha region. Grown on a 160-year-old family farm, the first spring leaves are shade-grown, processed into tencha, and stone-milled in small batches to protect the cultivar's color, aroma, and texture. The result is a ceremonial grade matcha powder of exceptional brightness: vivid green, naturally sweet, with soft umami, delicate nuttiness, and a clean, gentle finish with very low bitterness. Saemidori sits at the bright, sweet end of the Uji spectrum — among the most approachable single-cultivar matcha you can drink. Origin Wazuka, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan — a historic tea-producing village within the Uji matcha region. Certification JAS certified organic (Japanese Agricultural Standard), confirming organic cultivation and processing in Japan. Cultivar 100% single-cultivar Saemidori, prized for its luminous color, natural sweetness, and low bitterness. Harvest First spring harvest (ichibancha) from shade-grown tea leaves (tencha), selected at peak flavor and color. Grade Ceremonial grade — refined enough to drink on its own, and creamy enough for a premium matcha latte. Production Traditionally stone-milled in small batches into a fine matcha powder to preserve freshness, aroma, and mouthfeel. Taste profile Naturally sweet with smooth umami, delicate nuttiness, and a clean finish with very low astringency. Preparation Whisk 1–2 g with hot (not boiling) water for traditional thin tea (usucha), or with milk or oat milk for a vivid matcha latte. Packaging Packed fresh in a resealable, airtight 30 g tin to protect color, aroma, and freshness. Rarity Certified organic, single-cultivar matcha from Uji is produced in limited quantities each year, reflecting small-scale cultivation and a single spring harvest. Once a seasonal batch sells through, it returns with the next spring.
